ProductWhat the app does

Baldrick Buddy helps you find Baldrick lighting controllers on your local network, view their status, control and set them up (release channel, test patterns, Cunning FX presets, Busk Board buttons, outputs, DMX presets, physical buttons, and name and network settings), open each board’s web interface in your browser, and update their firmware. Firmware can also be downloaded in advance and sent to boards later, on a network with no internet access.

It also lists the other makes of pixel controller on your network (such as Falcon, PixLite, ESPixelStick, WLED, HinksPix and Minleon), lets you change the ports on many of them and send them a test pattern, and checks and controls the Falcon Player (FPP) show players it finds.

On your device

Depending on platform and version, the app may store locally:

• Recently discovered board identifiers such as IP addresses and hostnames (so boards can reappear faster)
• App preferences and settings
• Temporary caches needed for scanning or update progress
• Board firmware you have chosen to download for offline updates, until you delete it
• Addresses of Falcon Player (FPP) devices it has found, and the UI password of any FPP you enter one for
• What you have told it another make of controller is set to receive, for controllers that don’t say

This data stays on your device unless you choose to share it somehow outside the app (for example by copying an IP address).

On your local network

To find and manage boards, the app may:

• Send and receive local-network discovery traffic (including broadcast/multicast/UDP, FPP’s discovery ping on UDP port 32320, and Bonjour/mDNS-style service discovery where available)
• Make HTTP requests to devices on your LAN (for example code /system_state | , board settings, test and effect controls, and update endpoints)
• Scan nearby addresses on your local subnet when needed to locate boards

When you open a board’s page, the app reads that board’s settings from it, including the Wi-Fi network name and password the board is set to use, so you can see and change them. They are held in memory while the page is open and sent back only to that board. The app does not store them or send them anywhere else.

If your network has a Falcon Player (FPP), the app also finds it and reads its network settings, output settings, proxy list, playlists and the devices it knows of, so it can list Baldrick boards behind it, say which settings to change and show what it is playing. It changes the FPP only when you ask it to: playing a playlist or sequence, stopping a show, changing the volume, running its test mode, or saving the ports of a pixel cape fitted to it. An FPP password you enter is sent only to that FPP and kept on your device (encrypted on Android).

To list other makes of pixel controller, the app listens for their own discovery messages and FPP’s ping, browses Bonjour, and asks devices found while scanning what they are, reading only what identifies them. When you ask, it reads and saves a controller’s port settings (some makes need a restart to apply them, which the app tells you before saving) and sends it a test pattern for a few seconds over E1.31, Art-Net or DDP, as a show would.

Traffic used for discovery and board control is intended to stay on your LAN. The app validates responses so other devices are not listed as Baldrick boards.

With baldrickboard.com

The app may occasionally contact baldrickboard.com (or related Baldrick-operated URLs) for product purposes such as:

• Checking whether a newer version of Baldrick Buddy is available
• Downloading board firmware from firmware.baldrickboard.com when you use Offline update. The request names the board type and release channel you picked. It does not include your board list, board identifiers or anything else about your network; like any web request, it reveals your IP address to the server.
• Opening Baldrick website links you choose (for example support or product pages)

Those requests do not include your board list or anything else about your network.

Get help

The app only sends details of your setup to baldrickboard.com when you press Get help. Before anything is sent it shows you what it will send: your boards (including any it has seen before but can't find now), any show players such as FPP, and their network and output settings. This includes each board's settings as they appear in its Debugging Info download, with passwords removed. It also includes up to 30 seconds of readings from each board (whether data is arriving, which addresses it comes from and how many packets go missing) the network addresses of the phone or computer you’re using, the app’s version, and your operating system and its version (on Android, also the make and model of the phone or tablet). It never includes passwords.

baldrickboard.com holds this as a draft for 24 hours and opens the Christmas Triage form in your browser with it attached. You can see exactly what was attached on the form. When you submit the form, it is always attached to your support case. If you entered the number of a support case you already have, it opens that case instead, and the details are only added to it when you confirm them there (you may be asked for the access code from your case email). Once it is part of a case, it is kept with the case like anything else you submit. If you do not submit or add it, the draft is deleted after 24 hours.

LimitsWhat we do not do

Baldrick Buddy does not:

• Create user accounts or require sign-in
• Sell your personal information
• Use your board discovery data for advertising
• Require access to your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera for core features

AccessPermissions

Depending on the platform, the operating system may ask for permission to:

• Access the strong local network | (required to discover and talk to boards)
• Use related networking capabilities (for example multicast/broadcast where the platform requires approval)

If you deny local-network access, discovery and updates will not work correctly.

AgeChildren

Baldrick Buddy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

RetentionData retention

Locally stored board history and preferences remain on your device until you clear app data, uninstall the app, or use an in-app option to clear them (where provided).

Details sent with Get help are deleted from baldrickboard.com after 24 hours unless you submit them as part of a support case or add them to one.

StoresThird parties

Store platforms (Apple App Store, Google Play, Microsoft Store, and similar) may collect their own analytics, crash, or purchase information under their policies when you download or update the app. That processing is controlled by those platforms, not by Baldrick Buddy’s discovery features.

WhereInternational users

Baldrick Buddy is offered internationally. Local storage and network requests happen on the device and network you use. Any contact with baldrickboard.com is processed in connection with operating that website and related product services.

ControlYour choices

You can:

• Revoke local-network (or related) permissions in system settings
• Clear app data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored preferences and known-board history
• Avoid optional website/update checks by not using those features, where the app makes them optional

UpdatesChanges to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The version published on baldrickboard.com is the authoritative version. Material changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above.
