Baldrick Buddy is a desktop app that scans your local network for Baldrick boards, shows their status at a glance, and makes firmware updates a one-click affair.
OverviewWhat is Baldrick Buddy?
Instead of hunting for board IP addresses or opening each web interface in turn, Baldrick Buddy discovers your boards automatically and lists them in one place; board name, type, firmware version, IP address, and uptime.
When a newer firmware is available, Buddy shows an update button right in the list. Hit Rescan any time you've powered on a new board or changed networks.

Baldrick Buddy is not code-signed. You'll need to approve it once on first launch — see the platform notes below.
macOSInstalling on Mac
On first launch, macOS Gatekeeper may block the app because it isn't signed with an Apple Developer certificate.
- Download and open the
.dmgfile. - Drag Baldrick Buddy to Applications.
- Right-click the app in Applications and choose Open (don't double-click the first time).
- Click Open in the dialog to confirm.
Alternatively, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway after the first blocked launch. You only need to do this once.
WindowsInstalling on Windows
Windows SmartScreen may warn that Baldrick Buddy is from an unknown publisher. This is expected for unsigned software.
- Download and run the installer or
.exe. - When SmartScreen appears, click More info.
- Click Run anyway.
If the file was blocked before you ran it, right-click the downloaded file → Properties → check Unblock at the bottom of the General tab → Apply.
LinuxInstalling on Linux
Linux builds are distributed as an AppImage (or similar). The app is not signed with a distribution key.
- Download the AppImage (or package).
- Make it executable:
chmod +x Baldrick-Buddy-*.AppImage - Run it:
./Baldrick-Buddy-*.AppImage
Some desktop environments show an "untrusted application" prompt — confirm to run. If your distro blocks unknown binaries entirely, run from a terminal so you can see any policy errors.

- Install and launch Baldrick Buddy.
- Make sure your computer is on the same network as your Baldrick boards.
- Click Rescan if boards don't appear immediately.
- Click a board's IP to copy it, or use the firmware update button when an update is available.
