Common questions about BaldrickSwitchy

BaldrickSwitchy FAQ

Find answers to the most commonly asked questions about the BaldrickSwitchy controller.

What is this tray?

The BaldrickSwitchy has been designed to be as flexible as possible with regards to the types of things it can power which means that you can even put mains electricity through the relay connectors (NOT THE BARREL CONNECTOR), which if touched could cause issues.

Every BaldrickSwitchy sold comes with a DarwinTray to help protect you from accidentally winning a Darwin award.

Darwin Tray

The DarwinTray reduces the risk (but doesn't guarantee!) of you making from any contact with anything that could be live whilst still making it easy to mount to your box.

How much power does the BaldrickSwitchy use?

BaldrickSwitchy consumes 0.07A @ 12v when idle (0.17A @ 5v) and 0.23A @ 12v (0.725A @ 5v) with all relays active.

Where is the WiFi?

You see the ESP32 chip and instantly think WIFI enabled, however the Baldrick family of boards are focusing on the consistency of an ethernet based experience when running your show.

So for now, the BaldrickSwitchy is not currently wifi enabled, never say never but we'd rather be upfront if Wifi is a requirement for you.
